How long would you expect to get out of one of these Oil pumps ?

I am getting red light lockout on my Burner but only after the initial run and usually locking out on the second or third firing.

The reason I suspect it may be the pump as when I had it apart recently to work with the motor then it felt quite tight turning it, on trying to reset the lockout earlier it just buzzed as if there was mechanical resistance, then again maybe the old motor is the issue with its noisy bearings.

Originally I took out the burner to replace the motor as it was really loud but when I got it apart I found that the fan was seized onto the motor shaft, so I went and checked locally and i have ordered a fan incase it gets damaged when changing the motor.

Its been running about 6 weeks since then but this lockout issue appeared a few days back.

Magic Eye is good , Tank Filter cleaned, Had a new nozzle so stuck that in today, I am now thinking either motor is the issue or the pump is seizing up.

This thing is most likely on its original motor and is at least 25 years old.

Try the capacitor on the motor or the coil on the pump unless you've Got water in your tank then an oil pump will last for a long time one tip put an oil additive in the tank to keep the lubricity up in the oil.Bob

It ended up being the little plastic drive coupling was chewed up and making it stick.
