Hi there,

I would be grateful if you could help me, some years ago I was using the first generation Ring Doorbell pro and it has been working fine, I upgraded to the Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 and was looking at the device health (pic attached) and it says "poor transformer voltage". I was wondering if I need to upgrade the transformer (pic attached). Can anyone recommend an alternative?

I understand the Ring Doorbell Pro has the following transformer requirements: (16-24V AC, 10-40 VA, 50/60Hz).

Thanks a million

Don't the later versions require 12 or 16 volts?

Thank you. Unfortunately, this is a 12v transformer, I need a 16v to 24 wall mountable transformer.

https://en-uk.ring.com/products/din-rail-transformer-gen-2 is the official one, your'd also need an enclosure such as https://www.toolstation.com/wylex-2-module-enclosure/p31929

24V dc din rail munt power supplies are pretty easy to get hold of as its a default voltage for control systems in an industrial environment: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=meanwell+24v+din+rail&s=price-asc-rank

You want to match on voltage to the official one, and at least match the current, doesn't matter if you fit one with more (but dont go stupid higher as it might not be internally fused and might not expect the PSU to be able to feed a lot into a fault)

Be wary of cheap rubbish though, meanwell are a good brand, there will be others, but normally they are my go to brand for power supplies and cost a little, but not a lot more than some others.

If you get the one Flameport recommended, you will need a socket to plug it into.

You could possibly fit a socket where that switch is which presumably controls the existing transformer.

The main question has to be - are you intending on using the old door chime as well?

Because I doubt it will work.
