Ripped Carpet

I have had a new carpet laid, but my cat has scratched and ripped it in the doorway trying to get out, so it is ripped on either side, about 6 inches i would say. Any ideas what i could do about it, i thought about a floor plate?, but i am not sure if they sell them wide enough.
