but its still a load of carp, I speak from experience (not me personally as such). IMO if the judge says "x amount of years" then thats how much time should be served, not get 10 years, then let out after about 3 weeks and a tea break for "good behaviour"
As for this idiot that misled everyone, surely if it could be proved that others were killed because of his "stupidity" for want of a better word, then shuldnt he get life (life meaning LIFE not a couple of years and a telling off)

The idea of prison is to reform. How can you reform an ageing drunk that was a prat 30 years ago? It's going to achieve nothing. A commumity service order would have made more sense. He didn't kill anyone, he was just a fool. If he robbed a bank at gunpoint today he wouldn't get 8 years.

The appeal courts will slash his sentence when the public have forgotten about it.

ITS Acomplete disgrace that this poor man was given 8 years for police incompancey, they are blaming this gentleman for there incompancy that stupid idiot cheif whats is name should of resigned after 5 murders and they let this xxxx stay chasing a ghost just for is own glory and failed miserbly, if anyone who should be doing 8 years it is that xxx who ran the investigation what a bunch of xxxx
