I recently moved in to a georgian cottage with 2ft solid stone walls etc etc.
The rising main is the old Black plastic 3/8 stuff. The problem is the pipe condensates and looks like it has done for a good while and its playing havoc with the lime plaster/render.
The local water supply is for a very small village and is pumped through the small mains.
Ive got to re-do the kitchen and bathroom so will be putting in new pipework then but would like to sort this problem first.
I dont think the mains is that deep in the ground and have tested the temp of the water at the kitchen tap and it is 1degC.
Would I be best to replace the pipe back to the main stopcock, laying it deeper in the ground and insulating it as soon as it hits the building?
Or would there be an easier fix?
Cheers
Nick
