risks of badly installed plasterboard ceiling

The plasterboard has gaps between boards, some of the paper is torn and some boards got dented in areas when putting it up. A plasterer is going to plaster over with 2 coats. Is the badly put up plasterboard likely to cause issues in the long term? It was acoustic plasterboard too so I'm guessing the gaps will also cause a problem of sound passing through regardless of plastering. Any views would be very welcome - wondering whether it needs to be fixed before we plaster.

The plasterer did but I'm not sure how experienced they are. It looks like I would have expected if I had done it.

I couldn't take photos tonight as the electric is off and there wasn't enough light but I will get some tomorrow.

I saw the plasterer this morning and have attached photos. He

is going to cut out some of the areas of damaged plasterboard and repair with pieces of plasterboard. Although most of the gaps between boards are approx 2-3mm. Some areas between boards are about a pencil thick.

He is said he would seal damaged paper with PVA (and told me this is normal to have damage in the process), he is going to bond gaps and use sealing tape. He suggested using expanding foam around the edges where not flush to the wall otherwise bonding. In some small areas gaps between wall are about an inch maybe even the occasional area 1.5 and in one place 2inch.

Sorry the text above seemed be split by the photos. I've copied below. Another point was that the ceiling is not straight because one of the joist was higher. I think this should have been sorted out by adding wood spacers or something before hand but to do that the whole ceiling will now have to come down. He seems to be confident that he can rectify this at the plastering stage. One board in one of the rooms is also lower than the rest and again he seems to be confident he can rectify this when plastering.

I'm not a plasterer, but those gaps are massive. If the boards are not properly supported, on each side of the gap, then the plaster will certainly crack, and despite you trying to repair the cracks, they will soon return.

Thank you for the warning. Now to work out what he can do to fix adequately - Any ideas?
