Hello, I hope you can educate an amateur painter and decorator as I do not seem to be getting a good finish with a roller as per attached photos. My past experience had always involved painting over wallpaper with a brush and no issues whatsoever as to the finish. Now since moving house and using a roller (short pile) on a flat plastered wall I am finding it really difficult to get an even finish. As you can see the wall has roller marks (Almost as you would have with brush marks) and it looks a mess please can you point out the error of my ways, I am using a short pole roller and roller tray. Thank you for your help and advice in advance I really genuinely appreciate it.

I should have said I am using a short pile hand roller on the walls (not using a pole)

Use a medium pile roller. Load it up and get it on fairly quickly. Use a roller pole and go top to bottom with a faint final lay off of each band. It may help to add a drop of water. Main thing is to not overwork the paint!

Use the best quality rollers you can afford
