Hi

I have an old cottage where I want to expose the roof beams.

The roof is handmade clay tiles with no felt. At some point foam was sprayed onto the underside of the tiles (horrid stuff). There is a 50 to 60mm gap between the foam and the front of the beams which I want to expose.

Can I;
a) simply run a batten on the inside of the beams then apply plasterboard? Will there be enough insulation?
b) add a thin insulation which I believe can be a used as a plasterboard. If no then add a panel of plasterboard.

I know that ideally the foam should be removed but it I haven't got the budget to do this.

Thanks

It's not quite clear from your post what it is you wish to do. Apart from that, if foam has been sprayed on to the backs of the hand-made clay tiles, I can't see it doing them or the battens much good.
