No - I can appreciate that! The issue is is that I was supposed to be having a central heating system installed with a vertical flue exiting on a pitched roof. Problem was that when the roofer came round he reckoned (without actually trying it) that his roof ladders wouldn't fit through my lobby to get to the back of the property and hence the job couldn't go ahead. Everyone else reckoned that there shouldn't be a problem so I was wondering if it was possible that the hook could be detached, albeit slowly!
The situation is now resolved anyway, seems they will fit when he actually tried them. Bugger has cost me a week.......
if he couldnt get his ladders through your house,
could he have not just gone over the front of the house using the ladder to roof level then (just wait this is the good bit)use 2 cat(roof) ladders toget to the rear of the roof?ie 1 ladder for each slope, simple really!
Indeed, though in fairness the front of the property is on a fairly busy road and would have meant closing the pavement for a time. But not impossible.
More irritating was the fact that there is a 2m high wall at the back of the property adjoining a car park. He could have taken the ladders over this, or failing that through two of my neighbours gardens from a side street. All this was far too much common sense. Excuses along the line of health and safety were made until I got his boss on site who agreed that there were no issues with any of the alternative options. After that the ladders did fit.......
Still alls well now and the job is going ahead tomorrow......fingers crossed.
