Does anyone know if it's possible to put a roof light in an existing flat roof? I believe our extension has a pretty standard felt roof.

I guess anything is possible, but is it a massive undertaking?

A basic roof light is simple and just requires the upstands etc re-flashing. A Velux or Keylite openable fella will need A bit more work.

Does a "basic" rooflight increase loading, and require joist trimming?

Sorry Woods, I was under the impression the query was regarding the vagaries of the roof weathering fabric rather than structure.
My apologies.

Alright, get a room!

It all depends on the joist centres, anything less than 600 and the rooflight's will be a bit slim and also if any less then some trimming of the joists will be required and that will entail much more invasive work as plasterboard will need to be removed, in any case a kerb above will be necessary.

Velux do flat roof sun tunnels which shouldn't require much structural work.
