Hi All

Wondering if anyone knew where to get good quality roof paint for concrete tiles done some searching on the internet but so far no luck

What is the procedure for roof painting do you pressure wash off the moss or is there any products that can be sprayed on that anyone can recommend.

Thanks in advance

the same people that paint roof tiles paint their car tyres and their garage floors.

waste of time.

Didn't ask your opinion of the roof paint m8 only asked where i could purchase it and the procedure of applying it anyone with any advice on this would be very grateful

Thanks

sorry if i appeared rude.

it's just that there are less than scrupulous companies out there, peddling unnecessary work to people that cannot afford it or who would be better spending their money elsewhere.

damp proof companies, wall tie specialists, roof painters, etc, etc.

all of a sudden people think that they need to remove moss and paint the roof!
nonsense!

roof tiles will not benefit from a coat or two of paint.

Totally understand where youre coming from m8 but seems to be a big call for it in my area.

Seen many dodgy paint jobs going round but have also seen quite a few done well and makes a difference to the appearance of the roof.

Almost asked weekly about this from customers and advice is to keep the money and save to get it re-roofed if the tiles are in bad condition, would never advise these to be painted.

Some of the customers roofs are in good condition and have many years left in them, these people are wanting there roofs cleaned and painted as they have seen other roofs in their area they have liked.

Since the use of painting on roofs I have always advised against it at the end of the day i m in buisness to earn a living and am missing out in money turning these customers away when there seems to be a need for it in the area.

Seen some very poor jobs in my time and would like to provide a quality job for these customers so would like to find out more about getting good quality paint and the proper procedure for the job

Thanks

Excellent, another builder with no morals.

These customers have been advised that the painting of the roof will not increase the life span of the roof in anyway nor will it decrease the chances of their roof leaking

But want the job done to freshen up the appearance of their roof, i would like to hear any arguments against painting these roofs properly other than its a waste of time or it doesnt look very nice - a good sight better than a roof covered with moss.

but will not the paint come off after "some time" and look worse?

So having taken the customers money for a job well done, they won't be calling you again for future work; once their surveyor/honest builder/estate agent tells them that it's added no value at all and was a pointless waste of money.
I can't think of a harsher environment for paint; constant exposure to uv, driving rain, snow, wind, extremes of temperature etc are bound to take their toll sooner rather than later. Maybe you should contact NASA and ask what they paint their space shuttles with.

Maybe you need to convince your mugs, sorry I mean valued customers that it's not worth doing (giving the reasons why) and to save their money. They will value your honesty and professional knowledge (The ones that don't aren't usually worth working for anyway) and are more likely to keep your business card handy for future work. Tell them money saved on the roof could be best spent elsewhere, and maybe you could earn money from that instead.

Dont think its a matter of adding value to their homes but improving the appearance of their roofs dont really think there is a strong enough argument against roof painting.

Like all exterior painting main priority of most customers is to improve appearance of their homes not to add value to them also would imagine roof paint would need to be re-coated after a certain length of time like all exterior painting.

Get the opinion most of you have not really researched roof painting enough and therefore not really giving expert advice here, just against it because many dodgy companys have got out there first and most have delivered a poor quality job due to cutting corners etc again would like to at least find out more about this before condemning the use.

i do not need to be an expert at roof painting to know that it is pointless.

a roof gets rained on, s**t on, snowed on, dumped on by the atmosphere, is subject to wind borne crud, sun baked whatever and is most definitely NOT a showpiece for expensive unnecessary paint.

what next? wall paper for your manholes, or drain gully wall refurbishment. ffs.

This was painted pale green nine years ago, pretty isn't it

not sure how I can show a photo.... I had my roof coated 14 years ago. and unlike the roof shown above... mine was obviously done right. It still look new and the moss has not returned (it has on the roof opposite and he said it was cleaned a 'sealed' for £400. Some visitors to this forum think I am advertising, but as I once became involved in this worthwhile and excellent home improvement sector, I will not add any other info except this.....
For every new idea there is an old *art who will not believe r is making a nice living from the 'old' ways. The world is not flat, there is a country across the Atlantic and man can travel at the speed of sound..... How many of those with 40 yr old roofs have been told by established roofers that they need a new roof (££££££'s) what about New PVCu roofline when a coat of paint has surficed for 500 years, what about pressed concrete drives for 10 x's the price of flags. One man meat my firends.... don't offer or accept an uninformed opinion unless the expert is an expert in the product your are asking about.
did you know that plastic deteriorates faster than Keith Chegwins career?

Oh yes forgot to mention..... do not coat clay (Rosemary) tiles without a first coat of primer unless you want the above to happen..... looks like a DIYyes to me.....
