Hi, I live in a mid terrace house, the recent storm dislodged a roof tile from the divide “just” on the side of my neighbour. Today they approached my wife and said that, as the tile was on the centre line, they were prepared to go halves with us to replace the tile….

I’m at work at the moment and will take another look when I get home, but my initial instinct is that they are trying it on!

as the tiles are cemented in along the join between both properties, I can appreciate that could impact on us both - and in “theory” I’m not completely unwilling to consider a compromise - especially as if it’s let, it could cause damage to both properties

I just wanted some clarification on where the responsibility lies and if it does seem fair and appropriate?

what I DON’T want is the hassle of me ending up sorting it - or for a roofer to say that it isn’t possible to simply replace the single tile, due to it’s location? Any thoughts or guidance would be appreciated

Your tiles are cemented?

Do you mean that there is some kind of ridge tile where each roof meets?

Photos will help proper roofers (of which I am not one).

If your two roofs have been "bonded" with mortar or a Bonding Gutter then it suggests two different kinds of roofing cover.
If both roofs have same type and size of tile, for instance, then there's no need for mortar or bonding gutter at the party wall where they meet.

As above, a pic will help us help you?
