please forgive me if I don't use the correct terminology. I am building a small extention with a sloping roof. I believe the diagonal brickwork between eaves and apex are called verges. My previous extention has what look like asbestos sheets covering the cavity and protruding about 50mm over the verge beneath the lattes and tiles. I understood at the time that the building regs required the cavity to be covered to prevent fire spread.

Now that a cavity needs insulating, are these sheets over the cavity still needed. If so, what are they called and where can I get them. Sorry for seeming so stupid.

thank you kevin

They no longer need to span the cavity.
As Cat said use 150mm wide undercloak on top of your cut brick gable. Leave an overhang of 50mm. It can be more or less if you wish depending if it is relevant to setting out the roof tiles.
