hi all

can someone tell me if its OK to fix the wall plate on the external wall rather than on the internal block work

am going to have a truss roof and wanted to put the wall plate on the outside wall

is there any reason that the wall plate needs to be on the internal wall

regards

Internal walls are loadbearing, external are cladding.
It depends on the load, location, kickout force etc.

hi

my external walls are brick work and intenal walls are block work with a 50mm cavity both built off the footings

the reason i ask is because the outside brickwork is level all the way round and who ever built the blockwork did not build it as level as the brick work.

so would be easier to bed the wall plates on the external brickwork than internal blockwork

Static is right .Though my chalet bung. has the plate on the outer skin and exposed rafter feet.....60`s built....Sussex too. Your Building Control officer would tell you ;)

Also is extremely hard to fix holding down straps to an external wall.
