Hi all,

We're considering fitting some roof windows in order to make the loft space more usable. It won't be an extra room but with some natural daylight it will be more useful.

Anyway, I thought I'd throw out the general topic of roof windows; does it have to be Velux? People's experience of fitting them. Tips, advice, thoughts, etc. etc.

All feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for all prospective replies.

Tony.

All the makes are much the same.

One bit of advice, get top hung units and not centre hung ... unless you like frequent cuts to your forehead

Remember that the joists each side of the window often need to be doubled up, and get the correct flashing kit to suit whatever tiles you have

Otherwise, fitting is straight forward .... once you decipher the instructions with no text and just poxy pictograms
