Roofing a wooden building - making glazing bars?

Hi. I'm designing and making a 16 sided, semi-permanent building in wood, using 2x4 for the roof joists. At present I aim to rout the joists to take ply boards (probably 3/4"), inserting foam strip and attaching an 'L' plastic strip along the joist over the board/rout to weatherproof it and create glazing bars. I understand that this isn't ideal, but I do want to keep the idea of routing the joist to take the roofing rather than affixing the boards to the outside of them. How would members here weatherproof this arrangement? Are there any ready made glazing bars that I can affix to the inside of the joist instead of routing it? Or indeed, bars that will fit inside my intended groove?

Any help and suggestions gratefully received:)
