hi does any one know what the conntact breaker gap should be set to on a wall room thermostat mine is on the lounge wall and when i was wallpapering i unscrewed the wrong screw and the gap moved . the thermostat is a scatchwell . thankyou for any help .
about 1mm should do it... But if your decorating why not spend £12 and get a nice new one... Satchwell still make stats but honewell look nicer.. You will have 4 wires in there and they SHOULD be blue = neutral red = live in yellow = live out and the earth wire which may be bare or sheathed in yellow /green...
If its an old stat as u stated with a contacter gap it may only have red & black wire in it live in & live out. Either way there easy to swap only if u do only have 2 wires the new stat will have to be mechanical as well as the electronic type wont work with out a neutral.
OH i'l stand to be corrected. what make of electronic stat did u buy that works without a neutral conection Breezer ?????? the only type i know of are the battery type.
I have opened the gap to0.50mm i dont think it was 1mm before as this would mean undoing the nut and i only undone the screw that goes into an elongated slot . it is not working properly so i think i may need a new one ?
