Hi,

I have an extenstion, its an L shape extension.

One of the room which is in the from (garage converted) has external cavity wall, from external cavity wall, and is joined to the exisiting house which us not a cavity wall but is the original 9inch wall. so basically i have very thick walls around the room.

The room isnt big and has a sufficent radiator for the room, but the room is always so cold. i have notice that there are cob webs etc on the cieling and around the room. Im not sure if there is insulation in the ceieling between the plasterboard and roof. Should there need to be insulation in there?

thanks

thank you for your reply.

far as i can see it has no "rockwool" insulation in beweeten the plasterboard ceiling and roof. would this be the cause of the problem?

You will have a big heat loss without the installation.
The cause of the cold will be heat loss and the stone walls, they can become very cold in the winter and take some warming up.
Does the cavity walls have insulation?

yes they have insulation in the cavity wall, and also the foam required in the floor before screeding. so im sure that the walls and floors are ok, except the ceiling is where i have my doubts, especially cos i see alot of cob webs on the ceiling. In the winter obviously its alot more cold, in the summer its a nice refrigerator.

i will definately give that a go.

I do have kingspan on top of the joist, so it is a warm roof from my understanding
