Hi all

I have a rose bush which climbs over a reasonable amount of the front wall of my house. The wall is more or less North facing and so sees little sun. The bricks have gone quite green beneath where the rose bush is.....

I wondered whether this is a problem and if it is what the best solutions are. We would like to keep the rose bush there if at all possible, but not if it is damaging the house.

I can upload a picture of that would help (just let me know).

Many thanks

Max

PS - apologies if this is the wrong forum.

Very unlikely that the rose will damage brickwork - it's not invasive nor self-clinging. If it's really thick you might want to prune it a bit in case it pulls its supports down. The green is probably mainly due to shading rather than major damp as roses have plenty of airflow as a rule.
A bit difficult to do much about without taking the rose down. You could maybe try a bit of careful pressure washing before growth starts but difficult I'd guess.
