roses with new fittings

hello and thanks to all that reply,
I'm currently rewiring the lighting circuit of my new house. The wiring was a complete mess so i've ripped it out to start again. I would like to replace the circuit with loop in roses, however all the new light fittings don't fit over them with the caps on.Is it acceptable to fit the new fittings over the roses with the caps removed and to fit the mounting bracket for the new fitting under the rose? or do i have to rewire using junction boxes.

I take it the new light fittings you have are "fancy lights" and do not use the roses, if that is the case then you would be better off not using the roses at all and refer to the wiki on this site on how to connect the new fittings

If the base of the new lights will accommodate the back plate of the ceiling rose then what you propose is absolutely ideal. If only lighting manufacturers realised this...
