Realised the reason my door was sticking was the door sill / threshold… it was expanding with all the rain..
further investigation led me to discover the sill was actually rotten and easily came apart.
Having removed the sill, what appears to be some kind of sandstone was soaking wet and a couple of worms (i've swept up before photographing)
So attempting to fix this breaking it down into it's various jobs in order of priority.
I figure I need to fix the surface below the sill. Looking at this picture I believe the stone is one piece which has been carved into to make a slight step and is set into the wall. I don't really want to remove this!
To put a new sill in what material can I put underneath it so it sits onto the sandstone..and will stick to the sandstone? (Once it's dried out)
I noticed a couple of holes where the stone meets the tiled area. How can I seal this.
then with the door frame I will chop out unto 6" above and replace with fresh timbers…
and seal in place with a sealant.
