Hello,

Looking for some advice, guidance. I have an old roughcast garage that I’m going to cover one side over with wood. Was thinking weatherboard/plywood or something similar? Any recommendations?

Would fixing it directly to the roughcast be ok or would I have to strap it first, if strapped out does this then need something in the void/cavity?

Has anyone done something similar and have any pictures/results? I’ve attached some pictures of the garage (it’s actually just a storage unit)

Thanks for any help

Good point. If I can get away with sheeting over the top I will but am worried about it being uneven and not secure against the stones of the roughcast

First, why are you doing this?

How about making it like a fence, overlapping vertical lengths of board that are nailed/screwed onto battens top/bottom and possibly middle.
I suspect that drilling from the inside very carefully, starting small is the way to go.

I’m going to lift the slabs below and make a little area for my son to play in but want to be able to utilise the wall for fixing things and for him avoiding the stones etc if he ever fell.

I like that idea re fence. I may just buy large pieces of plywood and butt them up together though, maybe use a line of sealant between any joins too. Thanks for your reply
