Hi Guys,
I have a couple of questions about my new router, the first one I've had.

When I plunge the router it stops where the red line is

..is this right? Or is it supposed to plunge further?

The reason I'm asking this is I thought that "50mm plunge depth" meant that the cutting bit would cut down to a depth of 50mm?

Where as currently when the router is fully plunged / depressed the cutting bit only cuts to a depth of 20mm

Can anyone set me straight on this matter please?

Thanks for reading my post,

Jon

the collet nut should plunge fairly flush with the base from 50mm higher up

you need a worktop cutter to get that sort off cut

2/3 to 3/4 off the shaft go in the collet

Hi big-all,
Thanks for the reply, the collet nut is around 15mm away from the base.

Shaft is around 2/3 in the collet.

This is resolved now.

Advice given was ....

"I have not used that exact router, but you can raise the router all the way up and measure from the base of the router to the bottom of the collet. Lower the router and re-measure. Subtract. That is how far your router is plunging. If this number is 50 mm, then that's as low as it goes. If it's less, check the stops."

.. and it is 50mm

My expectations of how I thought the router should perform, clouded my abilities to see what was in front of me.

Thanks for taking the time to reply big-all :)
