Routing Radial Cable in Domestic properties

Getting a single 6mm T&E cable from the meter point to the attic in a normal two story home is no mean feat! Access at first floor is usually ok on the "landing" under the boards, but routing into the attic is quite difficult on older properties where there is no partition walls!
Even when there are hollow walls they are usually so full noggins that a vertical path is impossible without cutting holes in plasterboards.

Are there any tricks of the trade to enable routing (fishing) cable easier??

Not sure what the regulations are in The Bahama's? but routing cables in the UK needs to be done within permitted safe zones. So not as straight forward as pulling a cable up two levels.
No real tricks, there is going to be some damage, you ain't going to feed a cable through a noggin without cutting out and holing.
Cable rods and fish tape can help!

It's a potential cheat, rather than a trick, but are there any built-in cupboards or wardrobes on the first floor which you could use for a cable route - or, failing that, is there any corner of a room where you could create 'boxing' to enclose the cable?

Over here in Blighty - most houses have a waste pipe that runs from the drain (at ground level, of course) right up through the house and pops out through the roof.

This is usually boxed in and can be a handy cable route between floors.

Be sure to support your cable though.
