I've got a 2001 diesel with front solid brake discs.

If I got a set of the appropriate brake calipers, could I replace the discs with the vented type?

I'd want to see all of the bits side by side really.....the caliper securing bracket (may be the same, may not fit onto the front strut) hub bolt centres, hub centre diameter etc.
If your brakes are the Bendix type (with the wedge retainer at the top of the pads) they sure aren't the best but with maintenance they can just about cope.

I've decided to stay with solid discs.

Can't say I've ever experienced brake fade in the nine years I've had the car but then I'm a boring driver who adheres to speed limits.

I can get Mintex pads and discs for £31.50.

Thanks for the postings folks.

Get some some 200sdi injectors and turn the the boost up, get a chip from rover Ron and get 150bhp and a ****e load of torque.!! And the smoke to boot.
