i had a similar fault on a nissan micra h reg. found I had to press the accellerator when starting from cold - the choke was dodgy and sometimes would not engage, so had to warm the engine up by depressing the throttle slightly for about 3 minutes, until it was stable, or else it would just die. not good in cold weather!

wasnt gonna bother repairing a £300 car.

Not sure where crafty's coming from but a 600 sli won't have a choke.

From your description it sounds like it could have been the immobilizer on the blink,if it happens again you will need to have an E.C.U. fault check done, then work from there.

;)

Possibly the temp sender.
Reads the temperate of the coolant in the engine to tell the ECU whether the car is hot / cold thus needing more or less fuel.

i all so had the exact porblem m8, how ever i took it to a garage and was told the following day told the head gasget had gone, which seriouly annoyed me cos i had a new radiator fitted the day b4 i it went, ti's going to cost me £350 quid to get it fixed  , ive been told it's a very commen prob with the 600 series
