I used to go to Royal Ascot years ago. Local pubs etc always ran trips there for Ladies day. It's a great atmosphere in the racecourse. Sometimes I came back with more money than I went with. Last time I went I had a £1 placepot on and after the first five races I only needed the final horse to be placed to win a decent amount of money. 6th race, my horse was second favourite, with Frankie Dettori as jockey. Thought I was on to a certain win. Sadly, Frankie was having an off day and managed to come last out of 17 horses. I reckon I next saw that horse giving rides on Blackpool beach.

How is horse racing associated with the Royals around the world, but has been proved so corrupt? Does that mean, shock horror that Royals are corrupt? Oh yeah they are.

good when its windy down there and all the nice dresses :D

Don't knock it you have'nt tried it, horse racing is a great day out for all the family no matter how wealthy you are.

Have to agree Holmslaw. The atmosphere on course is just fantastic (as I've already stated). Last time I went to the races was the Cheltenham Gold Cup meeting. Bloody cold at that time of year though. Spent most of my time in the bars and the Tote. ;) ;) ;)

I have tried it, not my thing I'm afraid. Nothing particularly wrong with it, apart from being a bit "seedy" and very boring!

I used to go to Haydock Park as a teen, and do various work there, for pocket money, so was a good atmosphere. I was given a dead cert, all gathered round, to see it run backwards...A few years later it was entered into the Grand National, so I thought, worth a punt, surely. It died. Pashto was it's name.
