I am looking to have a dividing wall taken out to open up my downstairs front and back rooms. An idea I had was to have a double door size opening from my hall into the opened up room with a sliding pocket door installed. My question is would it be possible to have the RSJ supporting the floor joists sitting over the middle of the double doorway on another RSJ like the diagram below?
Similar minus the middle pillar and RSJ more centered.
