Rules on wood fire on suspended floor

Relatives have moved into a house with suspended floors. They used to have a wood fire in their old living room.

Is it possible to have a fire like this put in a room with a suspended floor? I have googled this and I can't find anything. I assume it would need a hearth putting in?

you propose to put what kind of fire - open, burner? - into what - an existin fireplace thats active or redundant?
do you have a complete chimney up to stack terminals?
is ther a existin hearth? - is ther a cellar?
