Hello,
The beading around one of my windows has become rusty. I've sanded and painted over it, but the rust re-appears. Any suggestions on how to get rid please?
Thanks

Do you mean one of the corner beads used to form the corner by the plasterers.

These are supposed to be galvinised but I have seen them rust before.

I normally apply a coat of shellac- eg Zinsser BIN- before recoating with emulsion.

Yes I meant corner beads!
Thanks for the recommendation. I've never heard of it. Can I get the product at B and Q?

As PaulC suggested- oil based u/c will suffice

I reccomended Zinsser because it is shellac based and dries in minutes as opposed to hours.

It is available in areosol or liquid forms. The later will need household cleaning ammonia to wash out the brush. Alternatively you could use knotting solution if you have some to hand (also shellac based).

B&Q et al tend to be over priced and often sell inferior goods- the only advantage over your local decorator's merchant is the later opening hours.
