Rusty clothes anyone?

My washing seems to take the clothes, wash them and then splatter nasty little rust-coloured marks all over them like acne. I've tried all manner of stain removal stuff but nothing's any good. I'm guessing there's a fault with the machine but has anyone got the faintest idea what it could be? I doubt that the make and model would be of any help to your guys but I'll have a look when I get in and post again. In the meantime does anyone have any ideas?

I'm thinking about some metal object lodged inside the tub and gone rusty. An underwire or a zip, perhaps? Paper clips from a pocket?

Look up how to clear the pump of debris, there might be bits down there to give you a clue.

the age of the machine will also be useful.
