Hi,

I have a sabre he boiler that keeps losing pressure. The boiler is needing topped up once every three weeks or so.
I am pretty sure that there are no leaks as I have not seen any drips and there are no damp patches on the ceilings downstairs.
The boiler is very rarely on as the flat is quite warm anyway.

Someone has said that this could be caused by air in the system? Is this correct or is there another likely cause?

Cheers,

Neil

1) Check you do not have any drips on the "relief" pipe which should be terminated outside somewhere.

2) If you run a hot water tap for 5+ minutes, do you notice your pressure rising at all? Or with the heating on; does the pressure rise more than 0.5bar?

If no to (1) and (2): Inject some leak sealer into the system (Fernox F4 Express - READ PRODUCT INSTRUCTIONS) and give it 2 weeks to see if it stabilises.

If yes to (1) or (2): It's likely to be the pressure relief valve and/or expansion vessel.

Danthegas,

Thanks for the response.

I can confirm that the rises to pretty much bang on 0.5bar. Is this a yes or a no to your second point?

Cheers
