safety lock window?

I'm moving to a new home that has a window that opens 2 ways on the second floor. Wide open than you twist the handle up and just the top tilts in to the room. This window with a toddler around makes me very nervous. Is there anyway of locking the mechanism so it will only tilt and not open wide?

Is there a specific name for this type of window mechanism?

They are called Tilt & Turn.
Fitting any form of limiters to a pvc T & T window will be tricky, but you could try these - http://www.sashjack.co.uk/ ...pinenot
