Hi
I want an exterior waterproof electric socket on my house wall. I can feed power to it through and existing hole in the wall (left by a redundant Skydish cable).
I would put 3 PIN PLUG ON wire and plug this into the socket in my room when I want to use it. All the sockets in this room are on a circuit linked to an RCD by the main fuse box. My question is will the RCD protected circuit suffice for safety at the exterior plug.?
Thanks

Why not do it properly?
I am sure that there are loads of similar installations around, but normally people run an external socket on the back of an internal, or run a new circuit.

if it is due to wishing to prevent people outside using the socket, lockable exterior enclosures are available. Or fit a double pole switch inside to isolate the external power.

Basically, it’s a bodge.

Yes the existing RCD will protect the outside socket the only safety issue is when using class 1 equipment with a TN-C-S supply and there is very little one can do about that, and most outdoor stuff is class 2 so unlikely a problem.

I also have outside sockets plugged in, it allows me to use a smart adaptor, energy monitor and I can isolate so no one can use it when on holiday.

It won't be used much - it is to plug power into my caravan when I am working on it
