It is probably clogged.

Spoon out as much of the granules as you can.

Lift out the filter basket(s) as you would to clean them of food particles. A lot of the granules should be trapped in there. Spoon out any granules you can find underneath. Try to run a rinse cycle to dissolve and wash away the salt.

If it is still clogged, pull it out to get at the drain hose, lower the hose into a basin on the floor, pour a jug of tap-hot water into the machine, this will dissolve some salt, which will drain out by gravity into your basin. Do this several times until you can't see any more granules.

John D thanks for the tip, however the kick panel is the whole length of the kitchen. Could we try running boiling water down the drain too?

12 for lunch tomorrow and 11 on Sunday, a working dishwasher would be much appreciated....

The kick panel ought to pull out.

Not boiling. Tap hot.

If you can't get the drain hose down, then the cabinet will not drain by gravity, so you will have to bale it out by hand as you slowly dissolve the salt in hot water.

Spoon out as much as you can reach first.

You do not want salty water spilling over the cabinet or door or anything else in the kitchen. Apart from the stainless lining, it will make steel rust away very quickly.
