ive sanded boards and looked pretty good an almost pink pine, i then tried to get black marks out with oxalic acid and washing off, when this dried i had pink staining, tried borax which seemed to take out some but stain brownish colour, before i completely ruin it or spend days re sanding the whole lot any ideas how i should proceed.

Jonny, it looks like you've exhausted most options.

You could try bleaching the floor using a single part bleaching solution for wood something like Lakeone Wood Whitener

Alternatively if this doesn't work you could bleach the entire floor taking out all the natural colour using Vitableach The main problem with bleaching a floor is managing to do it evenly.

My honest opinion is that you'll need to sand the floor right back and start again. After you've sanded the floor run a damp cloth over the entire floor and this will give you an idea as to how it will look if you apply a waterbased clear finish.

Hope this helps
