hi all, my wife and daughter are jetting off to Cyprus for a week and i am fitting a new bathroom suite and tiling, you think thats fair :LOL:
anyway, i have been hacking off the old tiles around the bath and its leaving alot of the old adhesive on the walls, i have never owned or used a sander would one be good enough to sand it flat after taking the worst off with hammer and driver :?: I dont want to buy one if it dont do the job Thanks P M

Chiesel it off, the wall dosnt need to be like a babys b*m.
Paint scraper may lift it off.
 
If the old tile adhesive is not too bad and fairly even,you can tile straight back onto it.It will give you a good key.Just make sure you don't tile over any loose stuff.As Diyisfun said,you don't want it smooth at all.

Forgot to say,but I have been doing just that, Thurs.Fri. this week,tiling over old tile adhesive.This was onto old plasterboard, early 70's.The tiles were taken off by the owner.No damage at all,just left the old tile adhesive from the 6" tiles.Today's modern plasterboard would rip apart!.....It doesn't matter even if the old adhesive is on a solid wall.I just gave the walls a scrape here and there to get rid of any loose bits,applied the tile adhesive to each wall,and tiled away.No problem at all,plus as I said before,it's a good key.
