Hi

Can anyone please help? Can’t seem to get a light timer to operate properly and something tells me it’s the on/off arm placement. There are 4 arms and several washers, 2 arms have no pins (1x on and 1x off) and the other 2 have pins again 1 off and 1 on.

Really hope someone can help

You usually slacken the central screw and slide the arms round to the hours you want, then tighten the screws to lock the arms in place. The "on" must be earlier than the "off" by (depending on model) at least half an hour. If you then rotate the dial you should heat the tappets opening and closing the contacts.

Did you buy it new?

A photo of your own timer would be more use than a stock photo, especially of the arms and the pins.

Sangamo clocks are really old designs, there are better, more modern, cheaper and easier to set options now..

If it's an outside light, it really needs to be a solar clock option.

Sorry it’s more the order they go in when the arms themselves have been removed,
So I need to know the order they go in such as on/washer/off etc if that’s makes sense

If you have dismantled a Sangamo mechanical timer, it's pretty much game over.
The instructions specifically state not to loosen the centre serrated nut.
