Burning inside a microwave oven is usually caused by a build up of food particles on the plastic cover where the microwaves enter the oven cavity.
This turns to carbon over a period of time. then the carbon gets Very hot and melts the plastic cover = more carbon = more flames. Throw away and get a new one. Make sure to keep it VERY clean...
