Hello fellow carpenters

I had my sash window repaired because it was rotten

I did think of using wet rot hardener and then wood filler but was persuaded to replace the bottom section

I paid £700 labour and it took two days. With material it was an extra £200 and I am not so happy

Is this acceptable to people on here? The wood was meranti and glued with polyurethane. He had to cut to size and route in a channel for the glass which took time but I was not happy with the finish. The wood at the front of the window is not flush with the rest of the window

I wouldn't have paid £900 for that either, badly fitted, not finished well at all and routing a channel for the glass doesn't actually take very long to do. Ask him to return and do what you want or ask for a discount as that looks like a DIY job.
