I am having problems with some 1970's wooden sash windows. These are not sash in the correct sense rather they are look alike ones. The sashes run up and down on guides with a spiral piece of metal [rebated within the frame] that seems to be there to create a friction stop for the window. I have searched and searched but found no information. Problem is that the spirals on some of the windows have now broken as have some of the metal brackets that are designed to locate them into position.

Help please!
