Hi there,
Moved into an old house with a floor standing boiler and although everything works looking to upgrade the old dated Satchwell thermostat on the wall with a digital one with control on the smartphones. Can anyone recommend what to use to replace the Satchwell in the picture?

So the boiler and system have been serviced, safety inspected and you have had a chat with the registered inspecting technician and everything is in safe/efficient order and your highest heating priority alteration is a smart thermostat (y).

Any smart wifi system can be installed but how it is installed into your existing system will depend on the remainder of your existing system, heating systems do vary .

The existing room thermostat only provides temperature control for your central heating.

However, as well as providing the functions of a room thermostat, 'smart' thermostats also include control of the on / off times for the heating and also the hot water control too (if you have a hot water cylinder) If so, the existing room thermostat won't have the wires necessary for the other functions so it's not just a matter of swapping it over. Normally the new thermostat would replace the existing programmer, or be wired directly to a wiring centre (if you have one) But, as Old&Cold says, that will all depend upon the type of heating / hot water system that you have and the components associated with it.
