I have a new softwood unit (redwood i think!) which we want white. I plan to primer/undercoat (dulux trade qdp) and a non gloss finish. I presume i could use satin or eggshell. What is the difference between these two finishes - is it just the sheen level. When would you use one in preference to the other. Ta John

I dont like the quick drying stuff, I would always plump for the oilbase especially if I am going from wood to white, but thats me.

Eggshell is a flatter look, with hardly any sheen to it, satinwood has a mid sheen.

And Oil Based Eggshell NEEDS wet n dry sandpaper between coats for adhesion.
