Hi, I'm painting some wood panelling. I used knotting solution then wood primer then oil based satinwood. I now think it needs another coat of satinwood to look it's best. Do I have to rub down first or just paint over? The first coat of Satinwood has been on for about 4 weeks. Thanks in advance. Steve.

As long as the first coat is smooth enough then you can paint straight onto the first. If there is any fine bits of dust on it a gentle rub with wet and dry will be ok. Dust off or use a tack cloth and second coat.

Cant add anything to that...follwing the instructions and youll be fine.

Thanks for the help. I was just worried that the 2nd coat would peel off if it got knocked as I've seen that when gloss has been painted over without being rubbed down first. Steve.

Shouldnt do..the more pigment in a paint the more it will etch itself to a surface...especially when its being brushed on.
