Up until now, I've been measuring between fence and blade and deducting this from the measurement I actually need to cut at, clamping a straight edge and away I go.

I want to build my own jig - 12mm thick by 200mm wide MDF 'guide' fixed to 3m MDF base. However I would ideally want it to be modular (mainly for storage), so probably lengths of 600mm each with maybe 5 sections for a total of 3000mm cuts.

Only thing is I'm not sure how I would best form multiples - I thought of glue-less dowels for alignment but it might want to bow at the join when I'm putting pressure on it.

How are track saw sections joined?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

+1 to Norcon

Very few occasions call for anything other than that kind of general size - they don't need to fit exactly after all.

Thanks gregers, I like the sound of that. Would MDF 'hold' a dovetail joint though?

Re the length, by storage I mean my shed. 1.2m would be OK, but not 2.4. I have an old worktop in there which is 620mm deep, hence using 600mm as it means I can slide them in one of the shelves under the worktop.

make it perhaps 1.3-1.35 to give you a bit off support to the saw at the begining
