I have cleaned up some old scaffold boards to a sort of grey finish which I want to keep for the shelving they will be used for.

I tried some wood reviver on one and it turned red as did a splash of water.

How do I protect the wood without changing the colour yet bring out the grain and markings

Possibly Briwax clear or light brown or maybe finishing oil (wich i think will go red)or Fiddes wax/oil. I even thought of clear decking oil.

I attach a pic with similar colouring. How can I keep this colour ? Thanks

I used danish oil , tinted with wood dye, mixing it before applying gives a very even finish.

What colour tint would you suggest for this finish as in the picture. Unfortunately I cannot show you the actual boards as my camera seems to have packed up.

I used medium oak mixed 2:1 with danish oil for this door , you will need to test on a scrap and keep adding dye until shade is achieved.
