It seems like i am going to have to build a scaffold structure over my stairwell to paint the walls and ceiling.
Steps at either side and a scaffold board inbetween.

Question is, will say a 3.5m scaffold board be strong enough for a 12 stone person?
I have read about doubling up and using 2 boards ontop of each other.

will this be safe and secure?

Thanks

Andy

I have no idea if there is a recognised spec for "scaffold board," other than on sites it will be made of a spec timber with metal reinforcing strips.

Just for you (today's special offer) I have been out and measured my "scaffold-boards" which are 4 m long and 50 mm thick.

I would have no hesitation in using those properly secured and I weigh 85 kg *.

*You have to do some work for your info :D

All the scaffold boards I have used have stamped on them "Support at 1m intervals" or something like that.

It will bounce a bit but should not break - note: all scaffold planks are unique, try it on a couple of bricks first to check your plank won't break, easily done and if it does break you only drop an inch or two!

Make sure you have plenty on the supports.
