We have a Scantronic 9448+ style house alarm.
While we were out there was a power cut.
When we came home the alarm unit blue flasher was flashing outdoors.
The two green alternating lights are still working.
The neighbours heard no alarm sound.
The alarm has no indication on the control box that it has gone off.
I can't see how to stop the flashing light.
The alarm works fine.
Any advice?

the blue flashing is the strobe.

this normally indicates that there has been an alarm activation, after a set time normally between 10 and 20 mins the outside sounder will stop but the strobe will continue to flash until the system has been reset.

Thanks, is this a special resetting procedure? I turn the alarm on and off everyday but the light won't stop?

usually on scantronic systems. you would put the code in to stop the noise and code again to reset. then your strobe should stop flashing

AFTER AN ALARM
To switch the bells off: Key-in your user code.
The sounders will stop and the zone light(s) for the
detectors that triggered the alarm will glow.
Reset system:
You must reset the system before it
can be used again. Key-in your access code again.
All the zone lights should go off. The system is now
ready for use.

Must be a fault, what a pain. Need to find out now where it is.....

the strobe will only flash if its getting a signal from the panel or the bell cant "see" the panel anymore ie damaged cable

i wouldn't say its necessary for the strobe on a domestic so if you feel up to it just remove the strobe from the panel. see if that stops it or if you can get up to the bell just ditch it in the bell.

Yep, the keys still sound out when you push them. As I say the alarm all works fine I just can't get it to stop flashing.

if the panel still works ok, it is unlikely to be that or the sounder itself.

my money is on a crushed cable.

have you moved anything heavy lately? (say in the past month)

I am thinking that something heavy is now sitting on the sounder cable and it is "shorting" the strobe trigger.

Alarm cables it is not that hard to do this with.
