I have a question about a Scantronic i-on40.

A recent mains fail caused the alarm to reboot. The battery did not do its job to keep the alarm running.

I measured the battery voltage and it was 13.6V off-load and when I remove the mains fuse, the battery is still 13.6V.

Could the battery be faulty or is the alarm panel faulty? Anything I can do to test?

does it reboot every time the power goes off ? Measure battery voltage and then turn off the power what does it drop to ?

Power goes off every time I remove the mains. Battery voltage drops from 13.68V to 13.60V but fails to keep alarm powered. When I reinstate the mains, the alarm powers up again with the wrong date

Thanks sparky - turns out a replacement battery fixed the problem.

Odd that the battery seemed to okay on test. Perhaps it was unable to provide the current to sustain the unit.

Without a battery tester it was the cheapest option ...you can't test it with a multimeter unless it was showing >13.80v dc ...e.g. 11.0v dc
