Hi,

Im trying to save a door that was badly burned by previous owner. I noticed after the paint was removed (through dipping process) that the inlay panels are beginning to split. I need to sand the doors and wax them but I'm wondering if I should pre-treat the wood before sanding (to slow down the spiltting).

Also, is there anyway I could get rid of some of the burn marks?

Please stand back and take a wider pic of the whole door.

It looks to me like it is veneered. I do not think it is fit to wax.

Please also photograph the top edge, from above

And the edge where the locks are fitted.

Is the door valuable to you? You may do better to replace it. Is it 35mm thick?
